Goalscape

This is a brief guide explaining how I setup my SEO strategies. I'm not delving into any specific SEO ranking tactics. But rather, my focus in this article is on the very first steps of your long term SEO campaign. Specifically on how to setup & properly organize your information. And more importantly, how to organize your objectives - so you can easily monitor progress. Until you start getting those #1 search results.

The best part about this particular setup is in it's simplicity. SEO is one of those areas of your business that you can really go in-depth with by actively analyzing data, using specialized tools, and applying different strategies. The following 'setup guide' sticks to the fundamentals.

keyword ideas

My guide has just two parts: information and progress. The information part involves your initial keyword research (and how to organize it). And the progress part involves your objectives; the target search terms (and how to organize them).

Bonus!

Contrary to the title, Goalscape didn't earn me the bonus - but it was essential in managing the project. Here's how...

My client recently sent me a cool $2,000 USD for completing a project and meeting a tight deadline.

The project objective was to convert a finished iPhone app design to the Android platform. Making sure that every screen and possible action in the app was conceptualized and customized for Android.

The app consisted of 36 user scenarios that all combined to showcase the final product. It was my job to take each one of these scenarios and recreate them for the Android. While for the most part the UI for both of these platforms can be quite similar, it is the the UX that is more significantly different. Particularly given that Android devices have a hardware back button; which gives users a little more physical control of app navigation.

Anyway, it was a big project. Wtih a tight deadline. And a cash incentive for getting it done on time. A perfect opportunity to deploy Goalscape.

Goalscape is a promising young app that runs on the Adobe AIR platform. AIR has a plethora of interesting apps, yet Goalscape stands out among the crowd for business nerds because of its goal achieving focus.

In my recent review of Goalscape, I illustrated how the program is a a fascinating example of how beautifully designed software can help a person shift paradigm, change mindset, and become better at achieving their desired outcome. I think that, as simple as the software may be (it's still early in development), the way they have visualized a 'radial paradigm' of project management is a true innovation.

So who are the visionaries behind this innovative software?
I had the opportunity to get down to business with Goalscape Founder, Marcus Baur. In the interview session below, Marcus reveals some great insights about their software development experience so far.

Nerd Business

How has your experience been in developing on the Adobe AIR platform?

Its been great. That's what OOP is all about. Not building everything from scratch, but instead building on a solid foundation. We have always aimed to provide a trusted management system that works seamlessly on all three major platforms - PC - Mac and web browsers. Adobe Flash/Flex/AIR was our only chance. It means that we depend to some degree on Adobe, but they seem to be a good bunch to depend on.
